Tips to Network with Global Executive Search Firms in India

Just as you require the services of international executive search firms in India, search firms require the services of you. You may be a contender for one of their clients' positions even if you aren't one of their clients. You could be able to suggest their services in the future, or perhaps become a client on the recruiting side.

These are the four steps you can take to network with global executive search firms in India:

Get connected with them before you need them

When you're not looking for a job, it's the best time to answer phone calls or initiate meetings with recruiters. It's considerably more difficult when you've recently been laid off, are soon to be laid off, or have recently quit. If the consultant knows you already, it will not seem inappropriate to try to connect you with other prospects once you've left your current job.

Be selective

Look for a recruiter who specializes in your field. Boutiques cater to certain sectors, functions, or geographic areas. Look for a consultant who is focused on building relationships. The willingness to chat to you in depth is the first test. You should reply to their call if all they're attempting to do is refill a candidate database or fill an imminent vacancy, but be wary of investing in them.

Be honest if you are interest in a job

With a good CV that supports a compelling personal value proposition, you can help the consultant picture where you may fit. Be honest about your skills and don't try to disguise your weaknesses when it comes to a certain opportunity.

Add value, if you are not interested in the job

Be helpful in the same way that you would be helpful to others in your professional network. Even if you're not interested in the position, make the consultant's call worthwhile. Give them input on the position they're filling, such as why you're not interested or how it may be made more enticing. Give your opinion on the client's reputation. Assist the consultant in staying up to date with non-confidential changes in the industry or function.

Once you've gotten their attention, you can use search consultant relationships as part of your long-term career plan.
